Clip: Cosmos: Possible Worlds

Project Category: Network Television, Documentary

About: Cosmos: Possible Worlds is the third installment in the original series from Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan's 1990s series Cosmos.

Position: Director's Assistant
While I was stopped over in New Mexico, my home state, to check the temperature on production work, I got wind that Cosmos was filming their next season locally. A huge fan of Carl Sagan and his incredible, global, and timeless impact on science, I knew I had to do everything I could to get on set. Long story short - Brannon Braga's assistant was recommended to me by a local contact to serve as her on-set replacement while she was away. On set, I assisted with anything Brannon needed, from breakfast to set notes, coffee to celebrity guest entertainment. While I had already been working as a producer by the time I accepted this position, it put me on one of the most awe-inspiring sets I've visited and I even extended my stay by switching over to background actor once Brannon's assistant returned. I will never forget my time there.

Production Secret: I also narrated the audiobook
While working on Cosmos: Possible Worlds I became closely acquainted with Ann Druyan, the creator and writer of the series. One day I happened to be in her office when she had a quick call regarding the audiobook for the series. I offered to step out but she gestured that it would be okay to stay, and on the call they mentioned their upcoming search for the narrator of the audiobook, as Ann would not be able to record the book in its entirety by herself. When she got off the call, she asked if I would be interested in narrating it and suggested I submit an audition read for the book. A few weeks later, I got word that the Recorded Books and Nat Geo teams had unanimously selected my audition.
