Project Category: Corporate Tutorial
About: Citrix is a multi-national cloud services company that needed product tutorial videos for their customer base.
Position: Producer, Editor, Writer
These videos required that I become an expert on the technology during the filming process so that I could later write a succinct VO script and create an edit flow that was easy to understand for the consumer. We made 26 videos for the Citrix Education department, each one covering a different interface, computing system, and aspect of the technology. I worked closely with their tech team on each component of the videos and I volunteered my own voice as our scratch VO. Once the client approved the fine cuts, I remotely directed the VO session with our talent to ensure proper pronunciation and emphasis of the technology.
Production Secret: Reference shot for the win
We filmed demos with the tech team by screen capturing each process while one of their demonstrators performed the tasks. To cover our bases, we also set up a camera to film the tech expert during his demo. That way, I could match the screen captured demo with the footage of him clicking and typing to clear up any questions I had in the edit. That footage was a locked off shot for reference only, and it really saved me when I was writing the VO.
